У ніч на 6 червня 2023 року росія підірвала Каховську ГЕС, зруйнувавши машинний зал та греблю.
Згодом стало відомо, що гідроелектростанцію неможливо відновити. Внаслідок підриву рашистами Каховської ГЕС виникла екологічна катастрофа,
було затоплено низку населених пунктів, з них оголошували евакуацію.
